Our Road To Adoption

Before committing your life to another person there are many things that must be discussed, like where will we live, two bank accounts or one, who pays for what, do you want kids, how many kids do you want, pets or no pets, and are you willing to adopt? That last one might not be on the list of questions for everyone, but it was something Nate and I discussed before getting engaged. Sarah has two adopted siblings, and in her home the definition of "adoption" meant to open your heart and love another just like family. Her parents were great at that and she could not imagine her family without those two additions, so adoption was always something she felt was good and natural in many ways. It was something she always felt she would be willing to do, even as a young girl, so she was looking to find a partner with the same willing heart. And Nate felt the same way! We both come from big families, and we both dreamed of having a big family, but life does not always work out the way you think it will, right? That is part of the adventure. We are trying to have our own children and we will continue to do so, but so far we have not been successful and we both feel good about turning our hearts to adoption. After prayer and pondering together, we have decided that to have the family we want we need love the child of another mother who would be so brave as to share her child with us, where her child will have a safe, loving, nurturing home with two committed parents.
